& I knew our love will last x3

November 11th; on the eleventh day of the eleventh month at 11:00, marked an important day. In Canada, it is known as...

REMEMBRANCE DAY
Walking around my school for the past week, I noticed many people pinned a Poppy on their left chest. A symbol for peace, unity and remembrance. We had a WWII veteran giving a speech, with the choir and bands playing the national anthem and The Last Post.
Many countries around the world celebrate this day to honour the people involved in the war, to mark the end of the brutal WWI when the Treaty of Armistice was signed (at the 11th hour of Nov.11 in 1918). Yes, history is my favorite subject =). Canada played a role in the war, although it wasn't really quite "independent" as a whole, yet. I am REALLY surprised that Singapore doesn't celebrate this, because as we all know, SG was a colony of England.

Anyhow, "HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF". Just look around, you'll realize what I mean. (Hint: today's fashion styles, the whole retor & vintage). WWII happened, didn't it?
Signed Treaties were made to PREVENT wars. But usually, people FORGET and start WARS. That is the purpose of Remembrance Day.

We have more in common than we are different. On this special day, I say we should stop for a minute. Think about all the innocent lives taken just because of SOME idiots. Think about the people who are criticized and killed, just because of the way they are born. Think about children orphaned from the war, and imagine ourselves in this position.
Ironic, how wars still go on in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan...will humans ever learn?

Give Peace a Chance.

In Flanders Fields-John MacCraig
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

Lest we forget.
